Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the Comment → Video Ideas for YouTube Chrome extension ("the extension", "we") handles information. By using the extension you agree to this policy.
1. What this extension does
Comment → Video Ideas reads the public comments shown on the YouTube video you are currently viewing and turns them into a list of suggested ideas for your next videos — recurring questions, requests and topics — each with a short representative quote. You never need an API key and you do not need to sign in.
2. How ideas are generated
When you click "Mine ideas", the extension collects the public comment text visible on the current video and sends only that public text over HTTPS to our own Lab Tools service running on Cloudflare Workers AI, which groups it into video ideas and returns them. Only this already-public comment text is sent — never your account, identity, or any private information, and not the commenters' names or channels. The text is processed transiently to produce your result and is not stored, logged for reuse, or sold.
3. What we do NOT collect
- We do not collect, store, or transmit your YouTube account data, watch history, identity, or any authenticated session information.
- We do not read your Google account or profile email.
- We do not collect commenter identities — only the public comment text is processed, transiently, to find ideas.
- We do not track your browsing across sites.
- We do not sell or share any data with third parties.
4. What is stored — and where
The only data the extension saves is your own interface preferences (such as how
many ideas to generate), stored locally on your device using the browser's
chrome.storage.local API. It never leaves your machine. Removing the extension removes
this data.
5. Permissions we request — and why
We request the minimum permissions needed for the feature to work, and nothing is used for tracking.
6. Rate limiting & abuse prevention
To keep the free service available, our server applies a per-device daily usage limit. It does this by counting requests against a non-reversible short hash of the connecting IP address — we never store your raw IP, and the hash cannot be turned back into it.
7. Third parties
We use no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only external service the extension talks to is our own Lab Tools service on Cloudflare Workers AI, used solely to turn the public comment text into ideas. Your use of YouTube is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
8. Optional email opt-in
An email subscription form is off by default. If it is ever shown and you choose to subscribe, we collect only the email address you explicitly provide, with your consent, to send product updates. You can unsubscribe at any time. We never obtain your email without your direct action.
9. Limited Use
Our use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store Limited Use requirements: data accessed is used solely to provide the idea-generation feature you requested, and for no other purpose. We do not use or transfer it for advertising, and do not use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
10. Children
The extension is a productivity tool for content creators and is not directed at children under 13.
11. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
